About the Game
Tekken 8 maintains the moves and gameplay beloved by hardcore fans, while adapting and innovating to further enhance those best parts. The developers have also smoothed out any technical issues or hiccups that may have detracted from the action in other iterations of the game.The next showdown between Jin Kazama and Kazuya Mishima is at the heart of this game, just as the fight between Kazuya and Heihachi Mishima was in Tekken 7. Although that fight resolved in a victory for Kazuya, do not count Heihachi out until you've checked his pulse – there is a lot at stake in the showdown between the last two members of the Mishima bloodline (and the last two bearers of the Devil Gene) (we'll tell you more about this in a moment).
The point is, Jin wants to kill his father and put an end to everything. Kazuya, fresh off his victory against Heihachi, is destroying cities and encouraging humanity to go to war. In the game's continuity, this takes place six months after the aforementioned battle, but the conflict between Kazuya and Jin is a little different from that between Heihachi and Kazuya.
While both were ultimately motivated by power and revenge, and each saw the other as the biggest obstacle in their path, Jin's final fight is more against the lineage he inherited from his father and the Devil Gene itself.
The Essentials
Gameplay-wise, Rage system attacks return from the previous game, but they have now been refined and expanded to include a Heat system of which Heat Smash is the pinnacle. Your Heat gauge fills as you play and turns purple when it is ready to be implemented. It lasts for 10 seconds once activated and you can perform Heat Dashes and Heat Smash, among other things.Each player responds differently to their own Heat gauge activation: some enjoy faster healing, others get increased aggression levels, or gain more power or precision, etc. Unlike other games, landing aggressive attacks on your enemy keeps your Heat gauge level up, instead of expending it. By tying in with the "rewards for aggression" system, your character's health is restored by attacking enemies.
This relatively major tweak, which will greatly benefit some players, introduces rewards for using aggression: players who benefit from rage and actively attack will earn more points and XP than those who try to use stealth and pacifism to navigate the game. Each attack creates residual damage on your enemies, which you can collect to further improve your health.
The online mode, called Arcade Quest, offers a wide range of contests, gameplay, and customization (tournaments, one-on-one, costume making for your favorite fighters, and more), and is an excellent way to get to know the game, and should be more stable and user-friendly than ever thanks to the new rollback netcode which improves synchronicity and ensures your match is not interrupted by inconvenient lag at the wrong moment.
Players will have access to five new stages: Arena, Rebel Hangar, Sanctum, Urban Square, and Yakushima over the course of the game. All of these stages have beautifully rendered and highly detailed backgrounds with lots of fun elements and impressive environmental transitions.
The game has the series' usual focus on close-quarters combat, but now there is also in-game staging (a level of performativity) which was born from positive fan reactions to game streaming. Greater destructibility and scenic gameplay garnered more praise and positive feedback on streams than safer or quieter footage, so that has also been considered, and the game now lends itself well to it.
There are at least 32 characters included in the game, including some new ones like Jack-8, the protagonist replacing Jack-7, and Azucena Milagros Ortiz Castillo (a carefree Peruvian mixed martial artist and daughter of a coffee company owner). Returning characters are highly recognizable to players who have their favorites, but all of them have enjoyed updates and improvements to enhance gameplay and satisfaction.
The game is fully cross-platform, so PC players can join their friends on consoles for showdowns and tournaments. The game uses Unreal Engine 5 for smooth gameplay and action.

The following members of the Mishima bloodline possess the powerful (and aggressive) Devil Gene, a supernatural genetic inheritance:Jin Kazama: The game's protagonist since Tekken 3, you will play as Jin.Devil Jin: Traditionally a separate character from Jin, this guy is Jin's alter ego, the version of the character that appears when the gene is activated.Kazuya Mishima: Jin's father and the protagonist of the first two games, becoming the antagonist thereafter.Heihachi Mishima: Jin's grandfather and Kazuya's father. He is almost always the antagonist (though he was the protagonist in Tekken 2), but he is always responsible for the events that precipitate the game, all games, including this one!Jun Kazama: Jin's mother returns to the series and comes to PC for the first time, as she was last seen in Tekken 2. She has an affinity for animals and observes them to improve her fighting skills. And, despite the game favoring aggression, Jun has great defensive capabilities and can neutralize attacks.
