About the Game
The game picks up after the events of the movie, continuing Miles Morales' adventures as he learns to balance civilian life with superhero life. He soon discovers that his new home in Harlem is threatened by a battle between tech giant Roxxon Energy Co. and the latest group of villains, the Underground, led by the mysterious villain The Tinkerer.While doing what he can, Miles stays up-to-date on city events through an app that informs him of ongoing crimes, as well as alerting him to news and side missions. Like Peter, Miles possesses a "spider-sense," which alerts the player to incoming attacks and allows him to dodge and retaliate.
He also has, of course, web-shooters, which shoot spider webs that can be used both in movement and in combat, in several different ways. Miles can also jump, stick to surfaces, and travel quickly using the New York subway system.
But it's not all web-slinging and flying over the city. During certain sections of the game, players control Miles as a civilian and cannot use any of his abilities or gadgets. Miles does everything he can to help Spider-Man, but his confidence is quite low after a couple of big mistakes, so when Spidey lets him know that he, Spidey, will be out of town for a while with MJ, Miles is convinced that everything is going to go wrong.
The Essentials
The third-person perspective lends itself well to the game's main focus, and as is always the case with Spidey games, this translates into Miles' combat movements and positions. Combat allows attacks to be linked and the environment and webs to be used to take down villains while avoiding as much damage as possible.Side missions have been significantly modified, and are now accessed from an in-game phone app (mentioned earlier). Miles has several unlockable suits, some of which are based on existing media versions of the character, as well as original suits created just for the game. Many of them enhance Miles' abilities, such as allowing him to take less damage, remain invisible for longer, or regenerate Venom power more quickly.
The game's graphics are beautiful, with lovely views that can be enjoyed from the top of buildings or while Miles swings to his destination, so remember - from time to time - to slow down and enjoy the view.
Throughout the game, Miles can treat fictional Manhattan, New York, as a kind of open-world sandbox, albeit a snowy one, as the game is set at Christmas time, interacting with other characters and collecting useful tools and gadgets, completing main missions and side missions and, of course, unlocking those new suits.
